10 Things to Quit

You don’t typically look at quitting as a good thing and that’s understandable.

But, at times, quitting just might be the best thing to do.

These 10 things to quit … they’re good things to quit!

Quitting these things will make you happier, make you more successful, and make you less likely to be a people pleaser.

Quitting these things will help you to truly take ownership of your life.

Sound like something that you’re ready to do?!?

Then let’s dig in …

  1. Quit waiting to be happy

WHY are you waiting to be happy?

You say that when they get this thing, or that thing, then you’lll be happy.

How is this thing … or that thing … going to make you happy?!?

Happiness isn’t the result of getting what you want.

But, happiness is the catalyst. Happiness is the start to getting what you want. Happiness makes getting what you want possible.

Show up.

Act happy. Be happy.

Don’t let the small things that are happening, or that haven’t happened and you’re waiting to happen, keep you from being happy. Quit waiting to be happy.

2. Quit depending on others to make you happy

If I just said quit waiting to be happy … why do you think that you should depend on others to make you happy?!?

You are the source of your own happiness.

Your happiness can’t be found in others.

No one else in this world can make you happy, but you.

If you aren’t happy with yourself and your choices, you need to fix yourself first.

Waiting and depending on others for your happiness isn’t good.

Reality check

Depending on others to make you happy is going to cause you to attract people who want to fix you. It will cause you to attract people that are basically people pleasers … they’re doing all the things to try make you happy.

You have to do all the things for yourself first before you can expect anybody else to do them for you.

Be the source of your own happiness, instead of depending on someone else to make you happy.

3. Quit blaming others

Blame is finding fault.

Blame is holding responsible.

Blame is placing responsibility on.

So, you’re just going to cast your actions onto someone else

You’re going to give control of your life to someone else

How does that make sense?!?

Why would you do that? Oh, so you don’t have to be responsible for it … so you don’t have to be held accountable for your actions … and then you can say it’s someone else’s fault.

Blaming others seems like the easy way out.

Actually, Blaming others makes you seem petty, immature, and undependable.

With few exceptions, what happens to us is a result of the choices that we made in life. So, quit blaming others, man up, and take responsibility for your actions and the consequences that flow from them.

4. Quit expecting life to be fair

That’s not fair … ok, who said that it was fair?

You sound like a toddler upset that the other kid won’t share their toy with them … come on!

You’re grown … I mean, you’re old enough to read this … so you’re old enough to know by now that life isn’t fair.

Life isn’t fair.

Life won’t always be fair.

Now that you’ve read it, know it, and understand it, how are you going to choose to handle it? That’s your choice.

I’m choosing to take what life gives me, and giving back what I want.

I’ll pivot and adjust to what life throws at me.

I’m done expecting life to be fair … are you?

5. Quit living in the past

The past … ohhhh the past.

The past, is the past, is the past.

Got it?

Whether your past was good or your past was bad ... The past has already happened … So, why would you want to live in the past?

Like … where will living in the past get you?!? NOWHERE!

We’re out of the past ... living in the present … looking to our future.

The only thing that the past should do is help you shape your future.

You can break the cycle.

You can create a new life for yourself.

If you quit living in the past, you can shape your future for the better.

There’s a reason that the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror …your future's so much better and brighter than your past.

Now, quit looking back and stop living in the past!

6. Quit fighting for your limitations

Before understanding why you should quit fighting for a limitation, let’s first understand what a limitation is.

A limitation is a restriction.

A limitation is something holding you back and keeping you from getting to where you want to be.

Please, make it make sense … Why are you fighting so hard to stay where you are … when you don’t even like where you are?!?

Your limitations … those restrictions … the things holding you back … they’re limiting beliefs!

How about this … Fight as hard for your success as you do for your limitations.

Liberate yourself!

7. Quit thinking you deserve to be successful

That’s funny … you think you deserve to be successful?!? Why?

Remember, life’s not fair.

& since life’s not fair, what in your mind makes you think that you deserve to be successful?

Are you doing things that will make you successful?

Are you doing things that show you’re working towards success?

Are you doing things that give a sense of entitlement to success?

Because if you’re not … then NO you don’t deserve to be successful.

You have to work for success.

You have to earn success.

Success isn’t just given to you!

You can’t complain about not being successful … if you aren’t doing the things that will help you become successful

If you really want success … Quit waiting for success to find you, go find success, and quit thinking you deserve to be successful.

8. Quit sabotaging success

You don’t think that you deserve to be successful.

(Which you don’t, like we just talked about, if you aren’t doing the work to be successful.)

But, you want to be successful.

You’re willing to do the work.

But, you’re limiting beliefs and you’re self doubt makes you think that doing the work won’t actually help you to be successful.

QUIT!

You’re fighting for limitations, which we already talked about needing to quit.

You’re sabotaging your chances of being successful!

If you want to be successful … which, you said you did … do the things and make the changes you need to be successful.

Let go of the limiting beliefs because they’re not serving you.

To be successful, you have to change, to give up things, and to sacrifice.

When making these changes that you need to be successful, replace the things that aren’t serving you and that are sabotaging your chances of success with things that will help you be successful.

9. Quit being afraid to be afraid

Being afraid is a part of fear.

But, fear is nothing more than false evidence appearing real.

So, you can quit being afraid to be afraid.

Instead, you can be afraid and do it anyway!

Feel the fear … let the fear push you.

You want to be successful.

Successful people don’t avoid things because doing them might be uncomfortable or cause them discomfort. No, they feel the fear and then they do it anyway!

Just got for it!

Embrace the fear.

It’s ok to be afraid … just do it afraid!

10. Quit playing games

Decide what you want.

& then go after what you want.

Playing games won’t get you to where you’re trying to go.

So quit.

Quit playing games basically sums up everything that we’ve been talking about …

Playing games is waiting to be happy.

Playing games is blaming others.

Playing games is limiting yourself.

Playing games is sabotaging your chances of success.

Don’t play games … take action!
